April is Volunteer Appreciation Month—but at Servants, this isn’t just a moment on the calendar.

It’s a chance to recognize the people who make everything we do possible.

Every ramp built.

Every floor made safe.

Every hazard removed.

None of it happens without you.

Most of the neighbors we serve are facing real challenges—limited mobility, fixed incomes, or simply no one nearby to help. What might seem like a small repair can feel overwhelming when you’re facing it alone.

And then you show up.

With tools in hand, yes—but also with something more.

Because when volunteers arrive, it’s not just about the work getting done.

It’s about what happens inside the home.

Dignity is restored.

Relationships are formed.

Hope is renewed.

You don’t just fix homes.

You listen.

You encourage.

You remind our neighbors they are not alone.

We’ve seen it time and time again—neighbors watching from a chair in the kitchen or doorway, overwhelmed that someone would care enough to come. Sometimes there are tears. Often there are prayers.

Always, there is gratitude.

What makes this even more powerful is who you are.

You come from churches, businesses, families, and community groups. Some of you bring years of experience. Others are picking up tools for the first time.

It doesn’t matter.

Because everyone has something to give—and together, that’s what changes lives.

And it changes you, too.

We hear it all the time—people come to serve, and they leave with something deeper:

A new perspective.

A new relationship.

A new understanding of what it means to love your neighbor.

That’s why so many of you come back again and again.

So this month, we want to say it clearly:

Thank you.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for the early mornings and long days.T

hank you for choosing to serve when it would’ve been easier not to.

Because of you, neighbors live in safer homes.

Because of you, people experience dignity.

Because of you, hope shows up in a very real way.

And the work isn’t done.

There are still neighbors waiting. Still homes that need repairs. Still opportunities to make a difference.

So whether you’ve served with us for years—or you’ve been thinking about jumping in for the first time—there’s a place for you here.

Because at Servants, volunteers aren’t just part of the mission.

You are the mission in action.

And this month—we celebrate you.
