You Are the Hero: The Power of Year-End Giving

ree

As the year draws to a close and we gather with family and friends to celebrate the season,

we often reflect on the blessings we’ve received — the people who’ve supported us, the opportunities we’ve had, and the community that surrounds us. It’s also a time when many of us think about giving back. For nonprofits like Servants, year-end giving isn’t just important — it’s transformational. And it’s you, the donor, who makes that transformation possible.

Each year, thousands of lives are touched by someone like you who decides to give. You saw a need, felt compassion, and took action. Whether it was repairing a leaky roof for a senior living on a fixed income, building an accessibility ramp for a person with disabilities, or supporting a local food pantry — your gift made that moment possible. You are the hero in every story of hope we tell.

For many nonprofits, nearly one-third of all annual donations arrive during the final weeks of the year. That support provides the resources needed to continue serving into the new year — and to plan for the future with confidence. At Servants, these gifts help us respond quickly to urgent home repair needs, mobilize volunteers, and bring Christ’s love to our neighbors in tangible ways.

But your generosity does more than repair homes — it restores dignity, safety, and independence for those who need it most. A single act of giving can spark a chain of hope that carries well beyond December. When you give, you’re not just making a donation — you’re changing a life.

And there are many ways to give, beyond writing a check. Non-cash gifts can have a big impact too:

  • Gifts of Stock: Donating appreciated stock allows you to give generously while also receiving potential tax benefits.

  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you’re age 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA — reducing your taxable income while supporting a cause you care about.

  • Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): If you have a DAF, consider recommending a year-end grant to Servants or another nonprofit that’s close to your heart.

  • Legacy Gifts: Including a nonprofit in your estate plans ensures your generosity continues to make a difference for generations to come.

These giving options often carry unique tax advantages, helping your gift go even further in supporting the work you love.

As you consider your year-end plans, we encourage you to think about the difference you can make through your giving. Every donation — no matter the size — is a message of hope to someone who feels forgotten or overwhelmed. You remind them that they matter, that they are seen, and that they are loved.

So, as the year ends and a new one begins, remember you are the reason hope shows up at someone’s doorstep. Your compassion builds ramps, repairs homes, and transforms lives. From all of us at Servants — thank you for being the hero in our story.

Together, we serve Christ by serving others. And together, we make hope happen.
