Dear Friends of Servants,
In a year when everything is costing more and more, an unexpected home repair can deplete your savings and wipe out your hope. In Ms. T’s case, a major roof leak damaged the floors and walls in her home. After receiving a quote that was double what she could afford, a contractor agreed to do the work at a reduced rate. She paid him and he spent one day working in the home, entirely stripping the walls and ceilings, and taking out all the insulation, leaving only rafters and studs. Then he never returned, so Ms. T and her three children were left with no money, an uninhabitable home, and very little hope.
This situation is infuriating, but sadly not uncommon. There are many people in our communities who, like Ms. T, are living in unsafe or sub-standard housing conditions with very few resources to address it. With prices of other essentials like food and gas soaring, even a small home repair is no longer affordable. Servants continues to see an increase in calls from homeowners experiencing the strain of rising costs who need help addressing unsafe and unhealthy living conditions. It is only because of faithful volunteers and donors like you that we are able to say “yes” to Ms. T and others in need in our community!
In this season of giving, your donation will help us cover increased material costs and provide hope to people in need across South Central Pennsylvania. You can make a donation at www.servants.org/giftofhope. Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Trent Davis
